Ruth Alexandra Elizabeth Jones, MBE (born 22nd September, 1966) is a Welsh actress, producer and writer. She co-starred in and co-wrote the popular series Gavin & Stacey, with James Corden, and has appeared in many television comedies and dramas.
In Stella, Ruth Jones takes the lead and title role. She is also a co-founder in Tidy Productions, the studio that produces Stella, along with her husband David Peet and a frequent writer.

Within Stella, Jones takes the lead role in the comedy drama series. The series is produced by Tidy, the company she co-founded in 2008 with her husband David Peet, who is also managing director. Ruth Jones is also a frequent writer for all of the series, working alongside Rob Evans, Steve Speirs, Ben Edwards and Simon Ludders.
